Time Consuming Problem on Social Networks

Assalamualaikum and good morning ;)

Time is valuable, and when it is gone, it is gone. Time is wealth, and unlike money, when it is gone, you cannot replace it - Napoleon Hill.

So now, we want to talk about TIME. Yes, the quotes above right. Time is wealth, but how many people realize about that ? Sometimes we just waste the time like that to do nothing. But, in this post, we just want to highlight about time consuming problem on social networks.

A national survey made by Kaiser Family Foundation found that with technology allowing nearly 24-hour media access as children and teens go about their daily lives, the amount of time young people spend with entertainment media such as social networking, game and video has risen dramatically, especially among minority youth.

This shows that the youth spend a lot of their time on social networking. If this is not their kind of thing, that it would just be a waste of time for them. The key to social networking is that it is supposed to be fun, whether you are just doing it for kicks or clicking around for business purposes. That should be reasonable enough for anyone, but there are those people who don’t see the point. For them, it can be a disadvantage.

Besides that, spend too much time on social networking would preventing you from performing healthy spare time activities such as sports and outdoor time. As a result, it would lead to obesity since you only sitting in front of the monitor and snacking all the time definitely.

In addition, too much time in front of computer would lead to less communication skill with others.

That's all for today. Thank you for reading ! :D

Privacy Risks for Users of Social Networks Sites

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon guy ;)

Are there any privacy risks associated with using social networking sites ? My answer is totally YES. When it comes to social network, privacy is one of the challenges. It is because Social Network Sites (SNS) are websites that allow users to upload information to a public profile, create a list of online friends, and browse the profiles of other users of the SNS. For example, Facebook.

See..!! The example above shows that our "information may, for example, be accessed by everyone on the Internet (including people not logged into Facebook), be indexed by third party search engines, and be imported, exported, distributed, and redistributed by us and others without privacy limitations.”– Facebook Privacy Policy, April 2010

However, you can change the privacy setting as shown in the picture below on your Facebook setting so that not anyone can know your personal data in detail. Unless you do not want to have privacy or maybe you want to be contacted by a lot of people that you do not recognize at all.

A new study conducted by the Ponemon Institute and sponsored by Experian’s ProtectMyID.com found that people are doing little to protect their personal information on social networks, opening them up to increased vulnerability for ID theft.

Some highlights from the study include:
- About 65% of users don’t set high privacy or security settings in social media sites
- Over 90% of users don’t review a given Website’s privacy policy before engaging in use.
- About 40% share their physical home address through social media apps.

Another example, have you heard about  the case of Megan Meir ? This is example that shocked the United States of America and could be having severe implications for privacy in Social Network Sites.

Megan Meier, a 13-year-old girl from St. Louis, Missouri, committed suicide just after a 16-year-old handsome MySpace friend told her “the world is a better place without you in it”. However, the 16-year-old boy was in fact a group of people who lived next door, and had created a fake profile. Lori Drew, the mother of a classmate of Megan, participated in this hoax. She got indicted for a violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) on charge of conspiracy and three counts of computer breach, namely creating fictitious profiles, sending abusive messages and soliciting personal information from minors. For more information about this case, you can click on this link -> Megan Meir Cases. How sad this girl ?

Megan Meier

So guys, be careful..!! Don't ever believe to unknown people and change your privacy setting so that your safety can be protected while using social networks.

Social Networks create social problems?

We would like to talk about the potential problems with social networking sites and the teenagers that use them.
Of course most  teenagers use sites such as Twitter,MySpace and Facebook to stay in touch with their current friends As benefit, for surely they will keep in touch and never lose their friends however nahh , they maybe starting to learn flirting from that.If you are single, it is like a big opportunity yes, but if you already are in a relationship with someone, don't try to do that.Besides, you wouldn't be happy seeing your partner flirt with some lady /guys out there, right? ; ) And as it occurs, definitely it will mess your life up.

And not to mention when you are already married :O

which can lead to divorce .

In addition, flirting in social networks commonly end with sexism.

That's all for today.
